About

Allen Farley has a lifelong record of public service, driven by his faith, family, and love for his community.  He spent 36 years in law enforcement. The last seven years of his Law Enforcement career Allen served as the Assistant Sheriff of Jefferson County.  In 2010, Allen felt a sense of duty to serve at the next level and ran for the State Legislature, successfully winning the Republican Primary and General Election. He was re-elected to his House seat in 2014 without opposition.

Allen attended Jefferson State Junior College and Jacksonville State University.  Many years after college, he graduated from the FBI National Academy, a prestigious law enforcement school in Quantico, Virginia.

Allen formerly served as a member the advisory board at The Foundry Rescue Mission and Recovery Center in Bessemer. He has also served as Chairman of the Auxiliary Board of the Jefferson County Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham.  Through Allen’s years as a Law Enforcement professional, and his time associated with Alcohol and Drug Treatment and Recovery Programs, he has personally witnessed the growing problems families are facing that have substance abuse and addictions as a common denominator.  For this reason, as an Alabama State Representative, Allen continues to compassionately champion the rebuilding and strengthening of families and communities through Christ centered substance abuse counseling and recovery programs.

In the Alabama State House, Representative Allen Farley was one of a few freshmen who was given the privilege of serving as a Vice Chairman of a standing committee – Public Safety and Homeland Security.  He also currently serves as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, the Children and Seniors Advocacy Committee, the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation, and the Shelby County Legislative Delegation.  Allen is also privileged to have served as the vice-chairman on the Joint Legislative Prison Oversight Committee.

Allen and his wife, Muriel, have been married for 42 years.  They have three daughters and nine grandchildren with whom they enjoy spending much of their time.  They are also actively involved members of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover.  Faith plays a major role in the Farley’s lives. Allen continues to prayerfully live out his life through the words of Matthew 5:16………….

Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven .”
